Indian Cricket Team batsman Prithvi Shaw has been suspended by the BCCI. BCCI has suspended them due to violation of anti-doping rules. Prithvi Shaw has been suspended for 8 months, which will continue until November 15.
Prithvi Shaw who was not selected to tour West Indies in August due to injury has been found guilty, Shaw will be available for selection afterwards 15th of November.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement on Tuesday and informed about this. Shaw has been accused of doping due to the consumption of restricted substance. This substance is usually found in cough medicines.
BCCI said in the statement “Prithvi Shaw, registered with the Mumbai Cricket Association, has been suspended for violation of rules of doping. Shaw consumed a restricted substance, which is usually found in cough syrup.”
Shaw gave his sample during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on February 22, 2019, in which parts of the prohibited substance were found. Shaw was suspended on July 16, 2019, guilty of breach of BCCI Anti-Doping Rules (ADRV).
Shaw considered the allegations raised on him, but said that he unknowingly consumed this substance. The BCCI has accepted the argument given by Shaw and they have suspended until November 15.
