The ICC World Cup 2019 has ended. The best ten teams participated in this tournament, which lasted one and a half month. Eventually, host England won the World Cup after a 44-year wait. Now the next World Cup will be played in 2023.
The next World Cup is to be hosted by India. This prestigious tournament will be played from February 9 to March 26, 2023. This will be the 13th edition of the World Cup, in which ten teams will participate. India has previously hosted the World Cup in the years 1987, 1996 and 2011. However, this time India will host the World Cup alone.
In the next World Cup to be held in India, seven other teams, apart from India, will qualify directly on the basis of Ranking, while two teams will be selected on the basis of World Cup Qualifier for the remaining places.
India’s World Cup Success
Indian team won the title of World Cup in 1983 for the first time. This title was won by the team led by Kapil Dev in the historic ground of Lords, defeating the West Indies. In that World Cup the Indian team was considered underdog, while the West Indies team was the strongest contender for the title. This one-day World Cup was played in 60 overs.
After 28 years of that, India won its second title under the leadership of MS Dhoni in 2011. India won the World Cup by defeating Sri Lanka in the title match. India is the only country that has won the World Cup title of 60 overs and 50 overs.
