The World Cup 2019 first semi-final match between India and New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester could not be completed on Tuesday due to rain. After waiting for about five hours, the umpires decided to complete the match on the reserve day on Wednesday.
New Zealand’s score was 211/5 after 46.1 overs until the match stops. On Wednesday, the New Zealand team will start their innings again from 46.1 overs. This is the fourth time that Team India will play on reserve day to find out the winner. Now let’s have a look at the other matches
1979: The match between Team India and Sri Lanka was erased on June 16 due to rain. The match was played two days later on the field of Old Trafford. India lost the match by 47 runs.
1983: On June 9, India and the West Indies did not end in a day which found that 22 overs of the West Indies innings were thrown on June 10. Kapil Dev’s team scored a historic 34 runs victory over the Windies.
1999: India and England had to take on the Reserve Day on May 30 due to rain that was played in Birmingham on May 29. India won by 63 runs, thanks to Saurav Ganguly’s all-round performance in the match.
New Zealand to resume play from 211/5 with 23 balls remaining, Ross Taylor and Tom Latham will be on the crease while Bhuvneswar Kumar will complete the 47th over.
