World Cup 2019: The 12th season of the World Cup has now reached the semi-finals. After 45 league matches, Team India secured first place in the points table, while Australia, England and New Zealand were included in the top-4 team.
Now India will face New Zealand in the first semifinal on July 9 and Australia will face England on July 11. But in the meantime a bad news is coming out for cricket fans.
According to weather forecast, India and New Zealand, which will be held on Tuesday, will have rain in the semi-finals. Not only this, according to the report, this rain can be for three consecutive days. Rain has also interfered in the World Cup league matches before this, and due to this India-New Zealand match was also canceled.
In such cases, if rain interfare in the semifinals also then what will happen ?
If India-New Zealand’s semi-finals match gets canceled due to rain on Tuesday, then the match between the two will be played the next day, Wednesday. In fact, there was no provision of reserve-day in group matches but for knockout matches, ICC has decided a reserve day for all the knockout matches.
Now the point of concern here is that in the rain forecast, the reserve-day is also expected to rain. In such a way, there’s a second option.
If the match is canceled due to rain, even in the reserve day, the Indian team will reach the final according to the rules. According to the rules of the tournament, the team which has the highest number of points in the group stage will be entitled to play in the final and at this time Team India is at number one in the points table with the highest number of points.
