South Africa’s injured pace bowler Dale Steyn has been signed as a marquee player for the first season of the Euro T20 Slam league starting on 30 August. The 36-year-old Steyn was in the World Cup team of South Africa but due to fitness problems, he later got out of the team.
The league has been joined by the list of former and current international players. Cricket Netherland tweeted, “Dale Steyn the Marquee player is joining the league with Imran Tahir, JP Duminy, Chris Lynn, Babar Azam and Luke Ronchi as the player. Apart from these players, England captain Eoin Morgan, Shahid Afridi, Brendon McCullum, Shane Watson and Rashid Khan are associated with the league as the icon player.”
The organizers of the league posted a video message of Dale Steyn, in which he said, “I am very excited about joining Euro T20 slam as a marquee player. I am waiting to go there.”
Steyn has taken 439 wickets in 93 Tests, which is a record for South Africa cricket team.
