Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamir announced his retirement from Test cricket on Friday. The 27-year-old fast bowler Mohammad now wants to focus entirely on white ball cricket, so he announced his retirement from the Red Ball Cricket Test format.
Amir said in his statement on his retirement decision, “It was a matter of honor for me that I played cricket for Pakistan in the top and the traditional format. But now I have decided to separate from this long format so that I can focus on white ball cricket.”
Amir said, “Playing for Pakistan is my biggest wish and goal. Now I will work on bringing my body into the best shape for white ball cricket, so that I can perform my best in this game. It also includes the ICC T20 World Cup next year.
The fast bowler also told that the decision to separate Test cricket was not easy for him and he was thinking about it for some time now. But the ICC World Test Championship is going to start soon and some very good fast bowlers are also coming to Pakistan. This is the right time to separate yourself from Test cricket so that the selectors can also get a chance to work on their plans.
The 27-year-old Amir has made his name for Pakistan by playing 36 Tests and 119 wickets. In his short career, he made 5 wickets in 5 innings in an innings with a red ball. Amir’s best bowling in an innings is 6 wickets, with 44 runs. This left-handed fast bowler made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in the year 2009 with the Gaul Test. He played his last Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg in January 2019.
