Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia has proposed to the BCCI that before every match starts in the 2020 phase of the Indian Premier League, the National Anthem ) To be played. The national anthem is usually played before the start of an international match, but Wadia feels that it should be so in the world’s number one cricket league. He also praised the BCCI for removing the grand opening ceremony of the IPL.
Wadia told PTI, ‘This is a great move. It is good that there will be no opening ceremony now. I always wondered what is the need of holding the inauguration ceremony which costs so much. The BCCI should do one thing that they should play the national anthem before every match in the Indian Premier League. Let us know that the national anthem is played in the Indian Super League (Football) and Pro Kabaddi League.
He said, “I had also written to the BCCI earlier and now I have written to the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. I think it is still played in theaters (before the film). After all, it is the Indian Premier League. This is a great league and we should play the national anthem. In the NBA too, the national anthem is played before every match.
Friendly matches are going on abroad
Earlier this week, the IPL Governing Council considered the demand of having friendly matches abroad. During this time it was revealed that the final decision will be taken after considering the ICC’s future tour program in detail. In this regard, Wadia hoped that the BCCI would consider taking the IPL brand out of the country.
Wadia said – Value will increase if you go abroad. He said, “IPL is an Indian tournament. However, if we think about its expansion, it will benefit everyone including the BCCI because it is an international tournament. If you look at the top football leagues, it is known that they play very friendly matches abroad before the season. This will increase the visibility, reach and value of IPL. The BCCI should think about it.”
