Jersey took the first place in the ICC T20 World Cup Europe Regional Finals of the six teams played in Guernsey from 15-20 June and qualified to play in the T20 World Cup qualifiers of 14 teams in UAE in the month of October-November.
Earlier, Papua New Guinea from the East-Asia Pacific region in March and Namibia and Kenya qualified for qualifying from the Africa region in May in the Qualifier.
Jersey won four matches in five games and captured the tournament on a better run rate (1.802). Jersey won eight wickets from Guernsey, 18 for Denmark, 80 for Norway, and Italy by 73 runs. They had to face defeat against Germany by three wickets.
Germany also registered four wins in five games, but lagged behind jersey in the run rate (1.749). Germany defeated Guernsey by five wickets, Denmark and Norway with seven wickets and jersey with three wickets, but they had to face defeat against Italy by five wickets.
Italy won three out of five and Denmark and Guernsey won two out of five matches, while Norway lost in five matches. Italy beat Norway by 20 runs and Guernsey by 11 runs, but besides Jersey, Denmark defeated them by 30 runs. Denmark beat Norway by 46 runs in addition to Italy. Host Guernsey defeated Norway by four wickets and Denmark by 6 runs
Germany’s Craig Meshad (5 matches, 179 runs and 6 wickets) was chosen Player of the Tournament. Craig Meshad scored the highest score in the tournament, while Anthony Hawkins of Jersey and Baljit Singh of Italy took the maximum 10-10 wickets.
In addition to the host UAE, December 31, 2018, 11 to 16th place in the ICC T20 rankings, Scotland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Oman and Ireland won the T20 World Cup qualifier rating. Apart from these Papua New Guinea, Namibia, Kenya and Jersey have also qualified to play in the tournament. The remaining three teams will be decided by the Asian Regional Finals (1 team) in July and the Americas Regional Finals (2 teams) to be held in August.
