The term of the coaching staff of Team India was ending after the World Cup, but it was extended for 45 days. Subsequently, Ravi Shastri and the Assistant Staff will remain with the team until the West Indies tour, but after that the coaching staff of the team can see new faces.
The Board has invited applications for these posts. The BCCI has set some standards for this, which are considered to be very stringent. In this case, some names are also being discussed which team can become India’s next main coach.
Terms
The terms set by BCCI for head coach are very strict. This scale means that big coaches like Trevor Bayliss and Mikey Arthur will not even be included in the race. According to the eligibility criteria, the age of the main coach should be less than 60, while apart from this he should have 2 years of experience in coaching Test playing nations. Also should have experience of coaching associate teams/IPL teams for minimum 3 years. The applicant should have played 30 Tests or 50 ODIs. But the eligibility rules are not the same for batting, bowling and fielding coaches. There is a difference in the number of matches played by the applicant only. Applicants of these three positions must have played at least 10 Tests or 25 ODIs.
