Right then, that is all we have from this match and we bid adieu to Dominica. There is one more match left in the three-match T20I series and with the first match being washed out, there's still all to play for in the last game. West Indies have the lead and will look to make it 2-0, whilst Bangladesh can only manage to make it 1-1. The final game will be played on Thursday, the 7th of July in Guyana. That match will begin at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT) but our build-up will begin much sooner. Do join us then. Take care and goodbye!
Nicholas Pooran, the captain of West Indies says that as a batting group they were just taking it over by over and they wanted to bat deep. Adds that they had plans to put bowlers under pressure early on as that sets the tone and they have been doing exactly that. Mentions that all the bowlers bowled well, even the spinner from Bangladesh did well on this wicket. Mentions that they have been managing workload well, and he is happy to see other players stepping up. Concludes by saying that the fans at Windsor Park are the best in the Caribbean.
Bangladesh skipper, Mahmudullah says that they didn't start well enough with the ball, allowing the opposition to gain control and Rovman Powell took the game away at the death. Adds that Shakib Al Hasan batted well but the rest of the batting wasn't up to the mark. Mentions that they need to be positive from the start and take advantage of the Powerplay but it didn't happen. Adds that sometimes a break can help you to improve but he hopes that that isn't the case for him personally.
Rovman Powell (61* off 28 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his quickfire knock. He says that his plan was simple, he was trying to get himself in at first and then play the big shots. He praises Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran for the way they batted at the top. Adds that it was a really good wicket and he wishes all the T20I matches were held at this venue only for the fans. He credits his batting coach for improvement in his batting. Further says that their bowlers' execution was good, they spoke about getting wickets in the Powerplay and they did get those wickets. Concludes by thanking all the fans who came to support them.
The presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Nicholas Pooran won the toss and opted to put runs on the board which his side managed to do so. Brandon King at the top was solid and batted through for a long time, allowing others to play the big shots. It was really the blistering knock of Rovman Powell and a few lusty blows from the lower middle order that propelled West Indies to a big score of 193. For Bangladesh, Mahedi Hasan was tidy with the ball and Shoriful Islam showed good skills at the death but that was it. Chasing a daunting target, the visitors never really were able to get a hold of the game and they had mostly themselves to blame. The Windies put in a complete performance and took the win and the lead in the series as well. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.
Bangladesh will not be pleased with that batting display. The top-order just doesn't seem to take responsibility for setting the tone whether it be a Test match or a T20I match. Three early wickets fell and there was some resistance from Shakib Al Hasan and Afif Hossain before the latter threw away the good start. Shakib stayed on till the end and having scored a half-century, went berserk as well but it was a little too late. The visitors will rue the middle phase where they couldn't get the boundaries and were blown out of the competition with more than a few overs to spare. A lot to ponder upon then for the visitors.
West Indies had the runs on the board and just needed a couple of wickets inside the Powerplay. They achieved that target and then some, leaving the opposition reeling. Obed McCoy was the star with the ball early on and then in the middle overs, the spin duo of Akeal Hosein and Hayden Walsh kept the scoring rate in check. The hosts picked up a few timely wickets as well and always seemed in control of proceedings in the middle. They will however look to improve at the death as the pacers did get peppered a bit with the game already in the bag.
A huge roar from the crowd at Windsor Park in Roseau as West Indies stroll to victory here and have now taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series with just one more game remaining. Just like in the Test series, the hosts have completely dominated the opposition to notch up a well-deserved win.
