A third loss in four matches now for Salem and they will be thoroughly disappointed with the way they batted in this game. Amith Sathvik V P was the only batter in the top five to get into double figures and thanks to a gritty batting display by Sunny Sandhu and especially captain Abhishek Tanwar way down the order they got close to the 100-run mark. It was a pretty low score but they had a brilliant start with the ball. However, Madurai were always one good partnership away from snatching the win and that's what happened as Salem just didn't have enough runs on the board.
Madurai are off the mark in the Tamil Nadu T20 League 2023 and they have done so in fine fashion. A victory that was set up by a sublime group bowling display and after a couple of early hiccups with the bat, the batters too showed their class and finished off the job in just 13 overs. Gurjapneet Singh was the chief architect with the ball as he picked up a couple of big early wickets and then Madurai were able to pick up wickets at regular intervals and eventually bundled out their opponents for just 98 runs. After losing a couple of early wickets in reply, Jagatheesan Kousik and Sri Abisek S built a steady stand and then Swapnil Singh came out and played a quick-fire cameo to seal the win.
