Right then! That's all we have from Qualifier 1! It is Barbados Royals who have progressed and secured a spot in the final of the Caribbean Premier League 2022. While Guyana Amazon Warriors will have another chance in Qualifier 2. The action in the CPL continues on 28th September 2022. It will be Saint Lucia Kings up against Jamaica Tallawahs in the Eliminator of this league. That game will begin at 4.30 IST (11.00 pm GMT, the previous day), but as you all know our build-up will begin in advance. So do join us then. For now, it's goodbye.
Shimron Hetmyer the captain of Guyana Amazon Warriors says the Royals really played well. Adds that they are comfortable with whatever they are put to and they backed themselves to chase the target here as well. Tells that they need to be positive and recover well. Mentions that the only concern is that some of the players went off with a few niggles. Further says that they know where they went wrong as a team in this game and they will need to correct their mistakes in the next game.
Kyle Mayers the skipper of Barbados Royals says that they knew they had a great team. They had just one bad game, but they came out and did well in this game. On Rahkeem Cornwall he says that he has not scored many runs, but they kept encouraging him and they knew he could be dangerous. Ends by saying that they have got the much-needed rest now, and they will be back for the finals.
Rahkeem Cornwall is the Player of the Match. He says that they wanted to give some time at the start as they had the confidence to go big once they are set. Adds that he had the eye for a century but is happy to get runs under his belt and help his team. He praises Ramon Simmonds for his bowling at the start and says that he always backs himself with the ball and is happy to contribute with the ball as well. Mentions that they had one bad game the last time but they always backed themselves and got over the line here. Ends by saying that it is a good feeling to reach the final.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the match, Shimron Hetmyer won the toss and asked Barbados Royals to bat first. That decision did not really go their way as they leaked too many runs. It was Rahkeem Cornwall's blistering knock of 91 and Azam Khan's quickfire 52 that helped Barbados Royals put on a total of 195 on the board. Chasing a target close to 200 was also going to be a tough ask. But none of their batters showed the real intent and just ended up throwing their wickets towards the end. They were eventually defeated by a healthy margin of 87 runs.
Barbados Royals were right on the money from the word go while bowling. They grabbed a wicket in the very first over and continued to take wickets at regular intervals. Guyana Amazon Warriors were struggling at 36 for 4 at the end of the Powerplay. Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul did some sort of damage repair but the latter perished just before the halfway mark and the Warriors had no chance after that. They were eventually bundled out for 108, with Shimron Hetmyer being their top scorer. For Barbados Royals, it was a collective bowling performance. The young gun, Ramon Simmonds was the leader of the pack, he took 3 wickets, while Rahkeem Cornwall and Mujeeb Ur Rahman grabbed two wickets each.
Barbados Royals have put on a dominant performance and have marched on to the final in an emphatic style! They are on their way to try and lift their third trophy, whereas Guyana Amazon Warriors will play the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2 and will have another opportunity to seal a spot in the final.

OUT! TAKEN! A brilliant catch in the deep! Guyana Amazon Warriors have been bowled out for 108. Hayden Walsh floats this up, full and on middle, Imran Tahir goes for the slog again but hits it more from the toe end of the bat. As a result, the ball goes high in the air towards long on where Harry Tector settles under it and takes the catch, but he realizes that he is going over the ropes so he flicks the ball in the air and then comes back inside to grab it again. The umpires send it upstairs to check the catch. The replays show that Tector did touch the boundary rope, but the ball was not in his hands at that moment. The on-field decision remains and it is 'OUT'. Barbados Royals WIN BY 87 RUNS AND QUALIFY FOR THE FINAL.
Is that a fair catch? The soft signal is out! The replay shows at Harry Tector has taken the catch cleanly and the third umpire signals Out.
