ECN Hannover Hitout Preview
The European Cricket Network (ECN) and North German Cricket Association (NDCV) are joining forces to bring you the ECN Hannover this weekend.
Kummerfelder Sport Verein (KSV), Polizeisportverein Hann. Münden (PSV), MTV Hannover (MTV) and SC Europa (SCV) will battle it out in the ECN Hannover over two days of high-octane T10 action at MTV Herrenhausen in Northern Germany.
Bundesliga champions KSV will be favourites for the ECN Hannover with former Afghanistan international and current Germany fast bowler Izatullah Dawaltzai in their ranks.
In his final outing for Afghanistan, Dawaltzai bagged the precious wickets of World Cup winners Eoin Morgan and Jos Butler at the 2012 T20 World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka. After finding his way to Germany, Dawaltzai unsurprisingly sits atop KSV’s batting and bowling stats.
“I have been working hard with Brian to unearth cricket in Germany for many years. Now we get the chance to do this again and live broadcast cricket from the north, which we will continue to do as more of Germany gets unlocked from restrictions and can play cricket again,” said ECN Founder and former German international Daniel Weston.
“We are grateful to the European Cricket Network for their support. The ECN and its tournaments are a valuable addition to our programme of cricket and it is very attractive for our players to show their skills to large global audiences,” said Brian Mantle, CEO of the Deutscher Cricket Bund (DCB).
“This tournament will be the first competitive cricket after the enforced lockdown in Germany. Everybody is chomping at the bit to get back on the field and play cricket. We hope this will be the first of many such tournaments for our teams and associations this summer.”
