Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has not been picked in the 15-man squad, but still, the hopes were alive as the team is still allowed to make any changes.
Mohammad Amir was hit with a shocking news as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to not pick him in the World Cup squad after a disastrous performance in the last one year.
However, his way to the World Cup squad was still open as every team is allowed to make any changes in the World Cup squad without the permission of the International Cricket Council (ICC) till May 23. And Amir had chances to prove his worth once again as he is playing in the ongoing series against England.
But he missed the second ODI against England in Southampton because of what team officials said was a viral infection and he is set to miss the third game in Bristol tomorrow as well. According to reports, it is now suspected as chickenpox and it that’s the case, there will be no chance anymore for the fast bowler to make it to the World Cup squad.
Amir’s recovery is still not known and even fit is a week from when he originally fell ill, it leaves him with a monumental task to break into Pakistan’s 15-man squad.
There are only two ODIs left in the series, on Friday and then Sunday. It is thought if he doesn’t recover in time for Friday’s game, it’s needless to say that it would be close to impossible for him to make it to the squad.
