Right then that's it from this game as Northern Superchargers Women have won this game by 7 wickets. The action keeps on coming thick and fast as all you need to do is switch tabs with team India up and running in a decent run-chase against West Indies. Also, if you wish to keep your focus on the Hundred. The Men's game between the same sides is coming up soon. The first ball will be at 11 pm IST, but you can join early for the build-up. Plenty of cricket going around. It is time get spoilt by choices. Cheers!
Alice Davidson-Richards is the player of the match for her all-around performance. She says that it has been pretty phenomenal and happy to get the first win on the board. Informs that Pheonix were playing some amazing shots at the start, but as a bowling group they focused on hitting the right lengths and being consistent. States that all the other batters did the hard work and she just added on with some handy shots. Mentions that they are definitely aiming for the Eliminators.
Stay tuned for presentation...
Earlier in the day, after being asked to bat first Birmingham Phoenix Women managed to score 110 losing 8 wickets. Sophie Devine was the star with the bat as she scored 46 and that too at a brisk pace. No other batter got amongst the big total and that restricted the side to a below-par total. Alice Davidson-Richards was fantastic with the ball as she took 3 wickets while others too chipped in with a wicket each apart from Grace Ballinger who went wicketless.
The balling was good but the runs were not enough on the total for them to defend. Issy Wong, Hannah Baker, and Kate Cross were amongst the wicket-takers as they scalped a wicket each while everybody else went wicketless. A day to forget for Birmingham Phoenix Women as they were breezed past by Northern Superchargers Women.
The innings started off on a positive note with Jemimah Rodrigues and Marie Kelly walking out with a positive mindset that was reflected in their strokeplay. Jemimah Rodrigues lost her wicket to Issy Wong but Marie Kelly kept going at a good pace. Once Phoebe Litchfield walked out to bat it was all about her strokeplay and sensational hitting of the white ball. Phoebe Litchfield took on Tess Flintoff and smashed her four boundaries on a trot that completely shifted the momentum in their favor. Phoebe Litchfield was the top scorer for the side as she scored 42 runs. Marie Kelly played a good hand of 24 too.
We are done with Northern Superchargers Women winning the game by 7 wickets. A dashing inning of 42 runs from the Aussie sensation Phoebe Litchfield sees her side through this run-chase. Although, undoubtedly, it is Alice Davidson-Richards who stole the show, by performing well in all three departments.
