Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first, Chepauk never really got going. Some of their batters got off to good starts but couldn't convert them. Only a quick cameo from S Harish Kumar of 32 runs off 20 balls got them over the 120-run mark which was still well below-par. Valliappan Yudheeswaran was the star with the ball for Chepauk with three wickets while every other bowler got one each except for K Gowtham Thamarai Kannan. While chasing, it was all smooth sailing for Kovai as they register their second win of the season.
Kovai knew that if they do the basics right, this chase would be a cakewalk for them and they did exactly that. Sachin B played a few lusty blows at the start before getting out but Sai Sudharsan and Suresh Kumar handled things brilliantly and did not give the opponents any chance to get back in the game. The latter did get out but Sudarshan remained unbeaten on 64 and took his team over the line.
A comprehensive victory for Kovai! They get back to winning ways with a solid performance and hands Chepauk their first defeat of the season.
