That ends a bizarre game. New Zealand stay alive with this win but they will be watching the next match with interest. India-Sri Lanka is up next. India have already qualified, but if they win, then it will be knockout for Sri Lanka as well. Join us back at 3 pm local (0400 GMT).
Victorious New Zealand skipper, Sophie Devine, bluntly says that she was shocked with the score at the halfway point. Says that Bangladesh bowled well on a pitch difficult to bat on but then laments the lack of application from her batters. All the more, praises her coach for keeping things calm in the dressing room and making the bowlers believe they could defend this total. Blames her batters for missing straight balls from Bangladesh but adds that her own bowlers took cue from those dismissals. On their next clash against Australia, Devine says that the batting certainly needs to improve. Adds that be it any sport, they are always eager to take on Australia. Aims to take a break on Sunday and then get stuck into the Aussies on Monday.
Bangladesh captain, Salma Khatun, admits that the batting was not good at all. praises Ritu Moni for her excellent bowling. On Bangladesh's final match, Khatun says that they would hope to bat better.
HAYLEY JENSEN HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Admits that her team did not bat too well but is happy that the bowlers stuck to their task. On the plans, Jensen says that it was just keeping it nice and simple and bowl wicket to wicket. On their quarter-final clash against Australia, Hayley says that Australia are a good unit and they just need to stick to their basics.
Unfair treatment given to the Bangladesh bowlers. They bowled their hearts out, restricting New Zealand to 91 but their batters let them down completely. Tough pill to swallow. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Definitely a massive opportunity missed by Bangladesh. Yes, they were playing New Zealand for the first time in Women's T20Is, but you do back yourself to chase down 92, don't you? They never got going and then unfortunately had a freak injury to Nigar Sultana. That derailed their chase completely. Just 3 batters managed double figures.
Having chosen to bat first, New Zealand would have aimed for somewhere around 150 but that never came. They lost their way with the bat but with the ball, they came all guns firing. They were miserly in the Powerplay, stifling the runs and then got the wickets eventually. Amelia Kerr started the choke, conceding just 10 in her 4 overs while Hayley Jensen picked up 3 wickets. Every bowler was economical.
Hmmmm! Which part of the game was more shocking? New Zealand getting bowled out for 91? Or Bangladesh failing to chase down 92? Difficult choice. The White Ferns have found a way to stay alive in this tournament, through some sensational bowling.

NIGAR SULTANA IS WALKING OFF. This is a body blow to Bangladesh. She was getting into some sort of rhythm but now, it has been cut short, unluckily. The stretcher has been called for and the new batter, Fargana Hoque, is already walking out to the middle. The stretcher has not come out but it is more sort of a cabbie, like the ones we have in golf. Sultana struggles to get up and then limps, hobbles, loses balance but is given some support. Seems like she is struggling to breathe. Hope all is well with her...

The players are out in the middle. Murshida Khatun and Ayesha Rahman are the openers for Bangladesh. Leigh Kasperek to start off proceedings. Murshida to face. Here we go!
Hats off to Bangladesh. Salma Khatun and Ritu Moni ran through the batting, sharing 7 wickets between them and they will be very happy that they are chasing down 92. Whether it is only 92 or not, only time will tell. Stay tuned.
Don't know how this all came about. The White Ferns got off to a terrific start, getting 36 for the first wicket and then a partnership for the third wicket between Suzie Bates and Maddy Green. But the former's wicket triggered a collapse and the White Ferns had no answer to the spinning ball. Off spin leg spin, no spin, flipper, you name it. The questions were asked but there were no answers.
That is a complete shocker. From 66/2 to 91 all out. 8 wickets for 25 runs! New Zealand had this issue coming into the World Cup that their middle order has not had batting time in the middle at all. And today, those fears have compounded really badly.

OUT! DROPPED, BUT A RUN OUT! Trouble, trouble for New Zealand. Full and outside off, Martin chips it straight back to the bowler. It is low and Rumana tries to get her hand to it but cannot hold on. However, the ball drops down and trickles onto the stumps! Rumana first appeals and then celebrates as the umpire refers it upstairs. Jensen is already walking and replays show why - she is nowhere in the picture when the ball hits the stumps!
Is that a run out first ball? Jensen is already walking back! Referred upstairs... Hayley is gone!
Katey Martin walks in at number 6, replacing Green.

OUT! STUMPED! Nicely done by the bowler. Floated outside off, Green comes down the track but is deceived by the flight and lack of pace. She tries to manufacture a swing but misses. The ball dips and then spins away, to beat the outside edge. She is far too down the track and the keeper Nigar Sultana whips off the bails!

OUT! LBW! Well, it was a surprise that it was reviewed in the first place. It comes even as a bigger surprise that the review is not lost, with the event looking dead plumb. Full and outside off, Priest got down to sweep but missed and was hit on the pads. There was an appeal and up went the umpire's finger. Priest looks up at Bates and then signals the 'T'. Ball Tracker shows the impact to be around off, indicating umpire's call but the ball to be hitting the leg stump.
Priest has been adjudged LBW! She asks her captain and then signals for the review. Here comes Ball Tracker. Impact is umpire's call while the ball is projected to spin into the leg stump!

The players are out in the middle. Sophie Devine and Rachel Priest are the openers for New Zealand. Panna Ghosh will start off proceedings. Devine to face. Here we go...
Bangladesh Women (Playing XI) - Ayasha Rahman, Murshida Khatun, Ritu Moni, Nigar Sultana(WK), Fargana Hoque, Rumana Ahmed, Sobhana Mostary, Salma Khatun(C), Fahima Khatun, Jahanara Alam and Panna Ghosh.
New Zealand Women (Playing XI) - Rachel Priest(WK), Sophie Devine(C), Suzie Bates, Maddy Green, Katey Martin, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Jensen, Anna Peterson, Leigh Kasperek, Lea Tahuhu and Rosemary Mair.
PITCH REPORT - The track has a bit of grass on it but the colours are different. That means there will be indifferent bounce.
Bangladesh captain, Salma Khatun, says that the wicket is good and if the bowlers stick to good lines and lengths, they can do well. She is very excited on Bangladesh meeting New Zealand and hopes that her team does well. Informs that there are 4 changes in the playing XI.
New Zealand skipper, Sophie Devine, says that she wants to bat first today as they have chased in both of their previous games. Does not want to look too much into last game's loss and instead, takes the way it was finished, bringing the game close, as a positive. Is not looking too far ahead into the potential quarter-final with Australia. Wants to finish this game first, win it and then move ahead.
TOSS - Time for the spin of the coin. Sophie Devine flips it, Heads is the call from Salma Khatun but it is a Tail. NEW ZEALAND WILL BAT FIRST.
WEATHER - Overcast skies started the day, but now, the conditions are bright and sunny.
Game 13 is here! Bangladesh take on New Zealand in their first ever clash in Women's T20Is. Coming to the context of the game, for the world, this is a dead rubber, except for the fact that if New Zealand lose, they need to lose by a small margin. But if truth be told, Bangladesh are not totally out yet. Can we get a good contest? Hello and a warm welcome to the Saturday double header of the 2020 T20 World Cup at the Junction Oval, Melbourne. The India-Sri Lanka game is right after this.
