The Vijay Hazare Trophy final was quite dramatic. Hosts Karnataka defeated five-time winner Tamil Nadu by 60 runs in a rain-interrupted match at the Home Ground M. Chinnaswamy Stadium by the VJD system. Karnataka piled on Tamil Nadu for 252 runs in 49.5 overs with the help of Abhimanyu Mithun’s five-wicket haul.
Karnataka chased down the target to 146 for one wicket in 23 overs. Then the rain came and the match was stopped. After that the match could not take place and Karnataka managed to win the match through the VJD system. Karnataka opener Lokesh Rahul was playing 52 and Mayank Agarwal scored 69 runs when the match came to a halt. (3) KL Rahul
KL Rahul has been batting heavily in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after being dropped from the Indian team due to poor form. (5) Devdutt Paddikal
Devdutt Paddikkal, who made his debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, had a great performance in the tournament. He also received his reward and has been selected in the Deodhar Trophy. The 19-year opener scored the highest 609 runs in the tournament. He scored centuries in consecutive matches against Saurashtra and Goa. During this time, he averaged 67.77. Mumbai’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has proved why he is counted among the big cricketers in Mumbai. The batsman, who scored 564 runs in just 6 matches for the team, played five matches less than paddikal who scored the highest runs in the tournament. Despite this, he was ranked fifth among the batsmen to have scored the most runs in the tournament. He scored 113 against Goa and 122 against Kerala. He scored a double century while playing a record innings against Jharkhand. He became the youngest cricketer to score a double century in List A cricket.
