Team India selection committee headed by MSK Prasad could give some new faces to the Indian cricket team for the upcoming West Indies tour starting on August 3. The team selection for the West Indies tour will be held on July 19.
After being eliminated by New Zealand in the ICC World Cup-2015 semi-finals, the Indian team will now play three T-20 and three-match ODI series between the 3 and 14 August in the United States and West Indies.
The Indian team will also play two Test matches in Antigua and Jamaica. Captain Virat Kohli, fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar can be rested from this tour.
Apart from this, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also expected to be rested. There is rumors about Dhoni that he can now retire, but Kohli and the BCCI have not yet ratified any official confirmation regarding this.
The new faces that can get the opportunity to tour the West Indies tour include Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep Saini. Chahar had taken 22 wickets in 17 matches this time in IPL while Khaleel’s account was 19 wickets.
In spinners Rahul Chahar, Mayank Markande and Shreyas Gopal can also find their place in the Indian team. Shubhaman Gill and Shreyas Iyer can get a chance in batting.
Gill scored 296 runs in the IPL. The Test series will start on August 22, which is part of the World Test Championship and also the beginning of the World Test Championship. Kohli and Bumrah are expected to return to the Test.
