SL Team News
Veteran pace bowler and one of Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-takers in ODIs – Lasith Malinga – is set to retire from the format after playing this opening match of the series. All-rounder Dasun Shanaka, who has been included in the team’s 17-man squad, will join the team from the second game after replacing Malinga. The selectors have not picked Lakshan Sandakan, Niroshan Dickwella and Danushka Gunathilaka who were all part of the World Cup squad. Dimuth Karunaratne will continue to lead the Sri Lankan team.
BAN Team News
Bangladesh have received set-backs in the form of injuries ahead of the opening ODI with skipper Mashrafe Mortaza and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin ruled out of the Sri Lanka tour due to hamstring and back injury respectively. Batsman Farhad Reza has been called up as a replacement for Mortaza while Saifuddin has been replaced by fast bowler Taskin Ahmed. Tamim Iqbal will be in charge of the team. The Bangladeshi selectors, on Tuesday, also added pacer Shafiul Islam to the squad. Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das have been rested for this tour.

England vs New Zealand Final Prediction
Sri Lanka have the advantage of playing in their own conditions and they have done pretty well at the R. Premadasa in the recent past having won five of their last eight ODIs. In fact, the hosts have never lost to Bangladesh at this venue in the fifty-over format. The visitors will gain confidence from the fact that they dominated the Lankans in last year’s Asia Cup and beat Sri Lanka Board Presidents XI in a warm-up game two days ago. However, they have not arrived with a full-strength squad – Mashrafe Mortaza and Mohammad Saifuddin are out with injuries while Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das are on leave. This means Bangladesh won’t be playing their best eleven which tips the scales further in favor of Sri Lanka.
