Sri Lanka announced the 22-member team led by Dimuth Karunaratne for the home one-day series to be played with Bangladesh. Sri Lanka have to host Bangladesh for a three-match series. The first match of the series is to be played on July 26, second on 28th and third on July 31 at the R Premadasa Stadium.

The Bangladesh team reached the quarter-finals in the 2015 World Cup, but in this World Cup, they could not reach the semi-finals and remained eighth. Apart from this, the Sri Lankan team won 3 of the nine total matches played in this tournament, while in four they had to face defeat. They finished sixth place in the World Cup point table.
