Tim Southee has been named Black Caps captain for their Twenty20 arrangement against Sri Lanka, with Kane Williamson and Trent Boult rested.
Williamson and Boult are returning home after the two-Test arrangement, which the Black Caps trail 1-0.
In spite of the nonattendances, New Zealand will have a lot of involvement for the three T20s in September, driven by Southee, Ross Taylor, Colin Munro and Martin Guptill.
The Black Caps have picked to name three expert spinners in Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner and Todd Astle.
“Following that stunning ride in the ODI World Cup, it’s energizing to start focusing on a different universe occasion [the 2020 T20 World Cup],” selector Gavin Larsen said in an announcement.
“The arrangement in Sri Lanka will be a difficult one against a group who are hard to beat in their very own conditions.
“Our T20 group has been entirely reliable over the recent years and we’re extremely content with the power and flexibility we have in this squad.
“Kane and Trent assumed a colossal job in our ongoing World Cup crusade and with a major summer ahead, we consider it to be a decent chance to give them a rest.”
The opening round of the T20 arrangement is in Pallekele on September 1.
