Team India starts it’s tour to West Indies with a brilliant win over the host in the 1st T20I, Navdeep Saini’s brilliant debut bowling hepls Team India to register a 4 wicket win over the Caribbean team.
1st match played at the Central Broward Regional Park Turf Ground, Louderhill in Florida. After winning the host visiting team captain Virat Kohli asked West Indies to bat first.
A poor start for West Indies as half of the Windies team were in the pavilion in the starting 6 over (Powerplay), opener John Campbell and Evin Lewis both got out without scoring any runs, Kieron Pollard then took control of the Windies inning as he played a crucial knock of 49 runs before throwing his wicket to Navdeep Saini. After their 20 overs of played West Indies score was 95 with the loss of 9 wickets.
Saini lead the bowling attack who picked up 3 wickets, while team mate Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 2 wickets too, Washington Sundar, Khaleel Ahmed, Krunal Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 1 wicket each.
India start their inning with a small target of 96 runs, Rohit Sharma scored the most runs which is 24 runs after losing his partner Shikhar Dhawan in powerplay when India was only on 4 run. Captain Virat and Manish Pandey both scored 19 runs each while, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar takes India over the line to win by 4 wickets in 17. 2 overs.
Sheldon Cottrell, Keemo Paul and West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine picked 2 wickets each while Thomas and Brathwaite were unsuccessful in picking up any wicket. On his debut Navdeep Saini named Player Of The Match for 3 wickets.
India and West Indies will continue the T20 series with the second match to be played in less than 24 hours at the same venue in Louderhill, Florida.
