Right then, that is it from this game. However, the action in the BBL 12 continues as we have another game lined up in a bit. It will be a top of the table clash between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers and that game will begin at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT). Do join us for the build-up. Cheers!
Nathan Ellis is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant hat-trick.
Earlier in the innings, Sydney Thunder after choosing to bat first posted a well under-par total on the board. They managed to get to it through a good knock form Oliver Davies and some lusty blows from Ben Cutting and Chris Green at the fag end of the innigs. Nathan Ellis was the start for Hobart Hurricanes and picked up a hat-trick. Hobart Hurricanes knew this was not a big total to chase, but they too were in a spot of bother early in the innings, but a match-winning knock from Tim David made sure they get the two points here.
Sydney Thunder did not have enough runs on the board and it was always going to difficult for them to defend this. Their bowlers did start off well picking up three early wickets, but then Oliver Davies dropped Matthew Wade on 3 which proved costly in the end. They put up a good fight and Daniel Sams was their best bowler as he picked up all the four wickets, the other one being a run out. However, in the end they ended up on the losing side and will need to comeback stronger in the next game.
Hobart Hurricanes struggled a bit initially, but they have done the job in the end. It was not great start for them as they were reduced to 20 for 3 inside the Powerplay. It could have been 20 for 4, Matthew Wade was dropped which shifted the momentum in their favour. Wade counter-attacked along with Tim David and built up a match-winning partnership of 79 runs. David showed his raw power and absolutely smashed it all around the park, but it all started when he racked up 20 runs in the first over of Usman Qadir. They did lose Wade and Asif Ali in the process, but David remained unbeaten on 76 off just 41 balls and took his side over the line.
A brilliant display of power-hitting from Tim David and Hobart Hurricanes get the win quite comfortably in the end. Tim David remained unbeaten on 76 off 41 balls which is also his highest score in BBL history. A night to remember for him and his side.
