Right then, Multan Sultans have booked their place in the finals. The Pakistan Super League action continues as Islamabad United will take on Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator stage on Thursday, 16th of March. The game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). Do join us for the early build-up as well. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
Mohammad Rizwan the skipper of Multan Sultans says that the ball was coming good at the start but it became difficult in the middle. Adds that Kieron Pollard and Tim David did excellently at the end. Ends by saying their bowlers were amazing and he feels happy to play in the finals.
Kieron Pollard is the player of the match for his excellent knock. He says he is very happy with the win. Adds that he plays with the right attitude and everyone supports him well. He says that he was just trying to build a partnership and put a good target on the board. Ends by saying that he is happy to play in the finals and they will look forward to winning it.
Shaheen Afridi the skipper of Lahore Qalandars says that they were going to bowl first anyway, adds that the results have not gone their way in past few games. Mentions that the batters haven’t given the starts at top. Says that the middle order gets under pressure when they don’t get starts. Closes out by saying that they will try to put on a better effort in the field and with the bat to try and get into the finals.
Presentations coming up...
Anwar Ali is in for a quick chat. He says that it was an outstanding effort as a team and glad to be playing the 3rd consecutive final. Adds that he bowled on good lines and lengths and was rewarded with the wicket of F Zaman. Mentions that the plan was to get around 160-170 and glad that they could get around that. Closes by saying that they will look to enjoy the final and do well for the side.
Earlier in the game, it was a Kieron Pollard show, who showed excellence with his bat and scored 57 off just 34 deliveries. Usman Khan, Mohammad Rizwan and Tim David played good cameos which made their side reach a good total of 160 runs.
It was an excellent display of batting from the Multan Sultans. They ran a havoc over the batters and kept on picking wickets. They never let the Lahore Qalandars batters settle. Sheldon Cottrell picked up three wickets and was certainly pick of the bowlers. Usama Mir chipped in with two while Kieron Pollard, Ihsanullah, Anwar Ali , and Abbas Afridi had one in their kitty.
Lahore Qalandars were under the pump from the word go and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Only three of their batters scored in double figures and three of the batters were dismissed for a duck. They will certainly need to get over this loss and come back fresh in their next game.
Well, well, that was certainly a one-way traffic through this game. Multan Sultans have booked their spot into the finals. Lahore Qalandars will play the winners of the eliminator stage. This is the third lowest score in PSL history. Lahore Qalandars are bundled out for 76 runs!
