Right then, that is all we have from a double-header Friday here! On Saturday, 21st of January we have Sydney Sixers taking on Sydney Thunder at the SCG. That game will start at 1.35 pm IST (8.05 am GMT). Do join us for the build-up. Cheers!
Michael Neser is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH!
Hobart Hurricanes, well their batting unit has once again failed to stand up. They bowled pretty well in the first half to restrict Heat to a par score but lost two big wickets early and were always chasing the game after that. Wade looked good initially but struggled to find the next gear against spinners and in the end it was left to Tim David to pull off something special. He did hit 44 off 27 balls but needed someone to support him at the other end but that was not the case and that means that Hobart Hurricanes have found themselves in a tricky position in this contest now.
Heat were put to bat by Wade after winning the toss and though they lost two wickets early and struggled to get going in the middle overs, managed to get to a competitive total courtesy some good hitting at the backend. However, they needed a good start with the ball and Neser was the man who provided it yet again as he got rid of Ben McDermott and Zak Crawley in his opening spell. That put pressure on Hobart but they were still going steady before Renshaw bowled some tight overs and got rid of Caleb Jewell. Bazley got a big wicket of Wade and after that though David threatened to take the game away, Heat kept things in control with some tight bowling by Neser and young Spencer Johnson. He was brilliant in the last over when Hobart needed 18 to win and this win will give Heat a lot of confidence.
A very crucial win for Brisbane Heat and they have strengthen their position on the points table with this win now. Happpy faces all around the Gabba and it is agony on the other side as Hobart Hurricanes with all that talent in their disposal have lost another game.
