Kolkata Knight Riders, the franchise of the IPL, have tightened their gear for the next season and for this, they are first to strengthen their coaching staff. Kolkata Knight Riders first made Brendon McCullum the head coach, and now veterans like David Hussey and Kyle Mills have joined them. Hussey will play his role in the 2020 IPL as a main mentor and Mills as a bowling coach. It was announced on Saturday.
The CEO of the franchise welcomed the two veterans and said that both have an important role in the team.Hussey has also been a former player of Kolkata Knight Riders. He has scored 1322 runs in 64 IPL matches, including five half-centuries.
Hussey and Mils will join the staff of Brendon McCullum. It is also quite interesting that Hussey was also a part of the inaugural IPL match where McCallum scored an unbeaten 158 off 73 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The team of Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL title in 2012 and 2014, but the last season of this team was nothing special. The team, led by Dinesh Karthik, started the season with some big wins, but their campaign weakened in the middle of the season. After which there was a lot of criticism from the players of the team.Franchisee had also spent a lot of money on Carlos Brathwaite and Lockie Ferguson, but even those players failed to live up to the expectations. The auction for the 2020 IPL will be held in Kolkata on 19 December.
