Zimbabwe cricket team captain Hamilton Masakadza has announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday. He will quit international cricket after the T20 tri-series against Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
The 36-year-old Masakadza has played 38 Tests, 209 One-Day and 62 T20 matches in an 18-year career. A world record is also recorded in his name. In 2001, Masakadza held a world record at the age of 17 years 354 days. He became the youngest player to score a century when he made his Test debut at such a young age. He scored a brilliant century of 119 against the Windies in Harare.
Significantly, the Zimbabwe cricket team has recently been banned by the ICC and its side effects have started showing. In this episode, the team’s captain and veteran batsman Hamilton Masakadza announced his retirement from international cricket.
Masakadza has scored 2223 runs in Test cricket with the help of five centuries and eight half-centuries. At the same time, he has scored 5658 runs in ODIs. He has scored five centuries and 34 half-centuries in ODIs, while in T20s he has scored 1529 runs in 62 matches.
