On the second day of the only Test being played at Lord’s, England had scored a score of 303/9 in the second innings and at the same time their lead was 181 runs. Ireland will have the opportunity to make history on the third day of the Test, and for that they will have to bowl out England early tomorrow.
The first day England was reduced to just 85 and England was trailing by 122 runs after day 1. Their beginnings were not good and Rory Burns was dismissed for just 2 runs with a score of 26. However, after this Jack Leach played a wonderful partnership of 145 runs with a second wicket partnership with Jason Roy and carried the team over 150 after lunch, but Ireland made a great comeback before tea.
Stuart Thompson Broke the partnership by dismissing Jason Roy (72) and immediately after Tim Murtagh dismissed Jack Leach on 182. Leach was unlucky that he could not complete his century and was out on the personal score of 92. Denly also scored 10 runs out at 194, and at the same score, Johnny Bairstow was dismissed without opening the account for the second time. England’s score at tea time was 209/5.
After tea break, Moeen Ali departed scoring 9 runs, then Ireland dismissed England captain Root who scored 31 runs and then after Chris Woakes was also dismissed at the score 248 runs. Sam Curran, however, played a whirlwind innings of 37 runs in 29 balls and brought the team’s edge to 150. On the score of 293, Thompson walked on and scored a ninth blow to England. In the 77.4 overs, when the score was 303/9, the match was stopped due to bad light and could not start again. At stumps Stuart Broad(21) and Olly Stone were unbeaten without opening the account.
