England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer remains the subject of discussion everywhere after Steve Smith’s injury in the second Test of the Ashes series.Team India captainVirat Kohliand great cricketerViv Richards got in touch with each other before the Test series against West Indies, naturally the issue was the use of bouncers by the bowlers during the talks of both of them.
Both Virat and former West Indies batsman Richards openly expressed their opinion on the issue.Kohli said that it is good to have a bouncer in the beginning of the innings and this motivates him to put pressure by batting aggressively against the bowler.
Speaking to BCCI TV, Kohli said, “I always believe that it is good to face the bouncer in the beginning. This gives me inspiration to not be able to do this again.Feeling that pain on the body, it seems that it should not happen again.Kohli was asked many questions during a conversation with the legendary West Indies batsman Vivian Richards.
Richards, a former West Indies batsman, said on the issue, “This is part of the game.It depends on how well you overcome such things.”
During this time, the Indian captain tied the praises of Richards batting in an aggressive manner. He said, “We are the inspiration for all batsmen, Sir Vivian Richards.”Richards said of the similarity with Virat Kohli, ‘I always believed in expressing myself in the best way.I have the same passion. Many times people look at us differently and say why they are so angry.”
When Kohli asked the question why he did not wear a helmet despite the dangerous fast bowling at that time, the Richders said, “I am a man.It would seem full of ego but I used to think that I am playing a game that I know.I trusted myself every time. You do not leave that trust even if you are injured.”
Richards added, “I found the helmet uncomfortable.I was proud of the maroon cap and I used to wear it. I thought I would survive even if I was hurt.”
It is worth noting that Vivian Richards, who batted aggressively, represented West Indies in 121 Tests and 187 ODIs.In Test cricket, Richards scored 8540 runs with the help of 24 centuries and averaged 50.23.In ODIs, he scored 6721 runs at an average of 47.Richards scored 11 centuries in ODIs.
