Batsman Cameron Bancroft and Marnus Labuschagne can find a place in Australia’s Ashes team. Both have been included in the 25-member primary team. Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stonis have not been included in this list. 25 member teams have been selected for practice matches.
According to the website ESPNcricinfo’s report, this team will be transformed into a 16-member team before the Ashes series starting August 1.
Cricket Australia (CA) chief selector Trevor Hohns said, “Last year Bencroft did a great job playing with Australia and that too against South Africa. He was also the team’s highest scoring in South Africa. He is currently playing in the County Championship for Durham and is doing well. He can make a good claim for selection.”
There was a 9-month restriction for tampering the ball on the South African stage at Bancroft. After the restriction ends, he can be included in the team once again.
Hohns has indicated that five fast bowlers, back-up spinners and two wicket-keepers can be selected in the team.
