UAE have withdrawn Ashfaq Ahmed from their T20 World Cup Qualifier 2020 squad. While no formal charges have been laid against the player, Ahmed been provisionally suspended by the Emirates Cricket Board board following ongoing investigations by the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit.
Ashfaq Ahmed on Monday turned into the fourth UAE cricketer suspended as a major aspect of an enemy of debasement examination.
Ahmed opened the batting in their initial two matches at the T20 World Cup qualifying competition. He scored four as UAE lost to Oman on Friday and three as they beat Ireland on Saturday.
He was not in the group on Monday as UAE beat Hong Kong by eight wickets.
“Further to the continuous examinations drove by the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit, Emirates Cricket Board has today temporarily suspended Ashfaq Ahmed with prompt impact,” the UAE Cricket Board said in an announcement.
They included that “no conventional charges have been laid against the player, and the Board will hang tight for the finish of procedures before making any further remark.”
Last Wednesday, commander Mohammed Naveed, batsman Shaiman Anwar and right-arm pace bowler Qadeer Ahmed were accused of defilement by the International Cricket Council.
